Robyn and Dustin are seriously the sweetest people I have ever worked with. So kind and friendly! From the first moment that I spoke with Robyn on the phone in early 2020, I knew that they would be the right kind of folks to work with. They are both from the mountains of Southwest Virginia, not too far from where I grew up, and they wanted to stay local for their engagement photos. Fortunately, they had some really great locations in mind that were new to me at the time. They led me through some of the most beautiful green mountains towards Coeburn, Virginia to the Guest River Gorge and to Little Stoney Creek Falls in the Jefferson National Forest. Immediately I felt right at home!Wedding Cherokee Creek Farm Jonesborough TN
The Guest River Gorge Trail is a rail to trail that snakes along the bottom of the gorge. The target location was an epic tunnel passing nearly 100 yds through the mountainside. The tunnel, lighting, and really uniqueness of the location completely exceeded my expectations.
We then made our way over to the Stoney Creek Falls. What a gem it was… and only like 5 minutes from the parking lot! The massive vertical stone walls and bridges crossing upstream of two of the main falls made for amazing photos!
Time totally went out the window when I was exploring these locations with Robyn and Dustin! I had originally told them that I would take their pictures for about an hour (not counting travel between locations). By the end of it all, I had been working with them for nearly three hours. I could not even believe how much fun it was to explore these new locations, and after posting their photos on social media, several other couples have requested to go up to the same spots. Here are a few pictures from their engagement session. Wedding Cherokee Creek Farm Jonesborough TN
The Wedding Day
Their beautiful wedding day was planned for December 5th, 2020 and, of course, COVID was in full swing. Shutdowns, restrictions, and venue closures were in effect. As their wedding date neared, Robyn reached out to me and was majorly stressing. Their original location canceled on them. They were nearly 2 months out from the wedding and had no venue. So I told her not to worry and I said leave it to me.

I contacted several of my close friends who own venues in the Jonesborough, Tennessee area and found her a couple of options that I thought might work with her budget. I presented those venues to her, and within a week, Robyn had secured the Creekside Barn at Cherokee Creek Farm. The luxurious barn was (technically) plan ‘B’, but I think Robyn and Dustin could not have been happier with that option! WeddingCherokee Creek Farm Jonesborough TN
Here is what Robyn had to say about the whole experience:
“Booking Hunter as your photographer is a must and you will NOT regret it! Coming from a bride who it was important to stick to a budget, choosing Hunter was the best decision we made. Not only is he a phenomenal person to be around, but he also made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. He truly is a blessing to have worked with and went above and beyond our expectations.
After COVID changed our venue a month and a half before our date, Hunter arranged some new options for us and it allowed us to book a gorgeous venue that I could only dream of! We are so pleased with both our engagement & wedding pictures and both our families were astounded with Hunter and his work!” Robyn Mays’ Google Review- December 2020. It was an honor to work with Robyn and Dustin for both their engagement session and wedding! To plan with them, adventure and explore the outdoors with them, and shoot their unique love story was a great way to close out 2020! Wedding Cherokee Creek Farm Jonesborough TN
