Amber & Tyler’s Cades Cove Engagement Session
Growing up I loved studying and experiencing history, being out in nature, and spotting wildlife in their element. If you are the same, then you would love Cades Cove in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park near Gatlinburg, TN. The only problem is that as a kid, I never wanted to get away from the lights and sounds of Gatlinburg to go out and enjoy that history and nature. Whenever dad wanted to go drive the 11 mile loop through the epically beautiful valley, I was usually miserable!
But now, as an adult, I can’t get enough of the place! When Amber and Tyler invited me along to shoot their Cades Cove Engagement Session, and mini Family shoot, I was excited to do it!
We were a little nervous at first because of the weather forecast calling for scattered thunderstorms. By the time we arrived to Cades Cove, the sky was a bit overcast but didn’t look like rain at all. In fact, it was a beautiful morning.
Amber and Tyler were well prepared for their Cades Cove Engagement Session! They had passed through the Cove the day previous and had scoped out several sites that they wanted to get pictures in. So I was just along for the ride! Honestly, though, there are few places that are bad for photos there, but we found some pretty scenic spots along the road.
Their two children came along as well and they were a joy to work with as well! C and L were full of so much life and they even got to help me take some pictures.
All in all, it was such a fun shoot! It was so cool to shoot in a variety of locations.

How did y’all meet?
We met our sophomore year at Volunteer High School in science class! Our teacher would allow the class to go outside and do classwork, so me and Tyler would go and sit under the trees together 🙂
However, we never dated in high school! (he never asked me out!) It wasn’t until February 15th of last year that we rekindled through old friends 🙂
When and where did you go on your first date?
TEXAS ROADHOUSE ON FEBRUARY 16TH 2020
Tell me about your first date together?
I made it to Texas Roadhouse first, so I stood at the entrance and watched him walk from his truck on his way to me. I was super nervous, but refused to let him see that! I noticed his bearded smile first! His beard was much longer than it is now! Our date consisted of a lot of catching up but also talking about old times and good friends.
How did you fall in love?
The day I fell in love with Tyler was when I realized how happy our relationship was (still is). He is my best friend 🙂
When/where did he/she propose?
He proposed valentines day morning before he went to work. He gives me a hug and kiss every morning before he leaves. The day he proposed, the hug he gave me before he left seemed A LOT longer than normal, which was followed by him asking me to marry him:)
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
Walking down the aisle as a married couple 🙂
Describe your relationship in 5 words
happy, thankful, blessed, loving, caring
Where would y’all go for your dream honeymoon?
Ireland!
What is your most favorite thing about each other?
His smile… he is always smiling:). He said there is a lot, but his favorite thing is my nose. lol
How have you grown as a couple since you first started dating?
We have learned to say “I’m sorry” and truly listen and understand each other.
Favorite quirk about each other
His use of words! He always has something funny to say! His favorite is my clumsiness (even though I’m not!) lol
How do you feel most loved by your partner?
Compliments and lots of hugs 🙂
First impression of each other?
We DIDN’T really have one, other than remembering each other from high school and realizing how much we have changed:)
