Savannah and Tre | Engagement Session at Rough Ridge NC
This is the second time I have shot an Engagement Session at Rough Ridge NC. The first time was an early morning engagement session and we had the Rough Ridge mountain to all to ourselves. This time with Savanna and Tré was a Tuesday afternoon and I was a little worried that it may be busy, really busy. Engagement Session at Rough Ridge NC
You see, Rough Ridge resides on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Asheville and Blowing Rock, NC. This is a ridiculously beautiful area with big views and amazing hikes. So when a couple is interested in going to Rough Ridge, I sometimes recommend other areas that have less foot traffic and therefore more privacy for their photoshoot. For Savanna and Tré, I decided to give it a shot despite my concerns.
In hindsight all I can say is. “boy I was wrong!” I was prepping them for difficulty parking and waiting for other people on the trail so we could get our pictures, but when we turned the corner for the parking area, I was blown away! It was empty! It must have been the forecast for rain that held everyone away. I didn’t take the time to ask any questions. We threw on our packs and headed up the short 10-15 minute hike up the mountain to the overlooks. Engagement Session at Rough Ridge NC

How did y’all meet?
Savannah had just reactivated her Facebook page after a long hiatus. Tré was her first suggested friend and she decided to add him. After messaging back and forth for a few days Savannah sent her cell phone number and told Tré to text her. And we’ve been together ever since our first date. Engagement Session at Rough Ridge NC
When and where did you go on your first date?
February 2016 – Blackbird Bakery
Tell me about your first date together?
Tré and I decided to meet at Blackbird Bakery. I got there before him so I stood in line to get a coffee. I saw him come to the door and smiled but then he walked away. I thought “well, maybe he changed his mind” but then he came back. It wasn’t for weeks later that he told me he walked away because he couldn’t get the door open. Haha. Our first date was supposed to be us doing school work together but it was so much more than that. We really didn’t get a lot of work done. I know it sounds cliché but our hands brushed together once, it felt like we were being pulled together and I just knew that we were meant to be together.
How did you fall in love?
How we fell in love is just something that can’t be put into words. We just knew, kind of around the same time, that we were in love and never wanted to lose each other.
When/where did he/she propose?
On May 3rd I was getting ready for bed when Tré comes in and tells me he wants to go to Blackbird at 8 pm. I was a little confused because we never go out late during the week, we’re homebodies. We hadn’t been to Blackbird for several years so when Tré suggested we go I wondered to myself could this be the night we get engaged?! He was so quiet on the way there.
When we got there I noticed that Tré was looking at the table we sat at on our first date but the area was closed off so we couldn’t go there. We ordered a slice of strawberry cake and sat in the window seat. Tré LOVES strawberry cake and didn’t eat a bite so I knew something was going on. After a few minutes of sitting there and me trying to talk to him Tré told me to look at something on the wall and when I turned back around the ring box was on the table.
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
I am most excited to finally be able to call Tré my husband! We have been together for a long time and I cannot wait to start our life together. We are also excited about being able to celebrate with our closest friends and family who mean the most to us. We will be in St. Croix for a week and it will be a wonderful time for our families to get to know each other and make some beautiful memories.

What is your most favorite thing about each other?
Savannah – Tré remembers small things I say and How selfless he is. Tré – How caring Savannah is.
How have you grown as a couple since you first started dating?
We have learned how to communicate with each other, what each one of us needs to feel loved, and what each of us needs when we are upset.
The favorite quirk about each other
Tré’s funny voices he talks in. Savannah’s big smile when she’s really excited.
How do you feel most loved by your partner?
When Tré does things around the house without me asking. When Savannah cooks my favorite meals and packs me snacks for golf without me asking her.
First impression of each other?
Tré – how pretty Savannah’s smile was when I first saw her. Savannah – How polite he was. I was impressed when he offered to buy my coffee. Engagement Session at Rough Ridge NC
