Engagement Session at Tom Creek Falls
Recently I meet up with Kerrigan and Nick for their Engagement Session at Tom Creek Falls just outside of Marion, NC. Although the session was in early March and we were in the mountains, the temperatures were just right! In our planning calls before the shoot, I asked that they arrive about an hour and a half before sunset so that we would ensure plenty of light. The thing about shooting my adventure sessions at waterfalls is that you have to get there early. If you wait till sunset, then typically you are too late. The light will be lost behind the ridges that typically surround the falls.
That being said, we got there with the perfect amount of light to create very flattering and super moody photos together. It was really fun working with Kerrigan and Nick. They were so nervous, but once we got started, they were naturals! Their photos turned out amazingly! How Did Y’all Meet?
We originally went to high school together but reconnected years later by our mutual best friend.
When and Where did you go on your first date?
Our first date was about 5 years ago at a Mexican rest in Asheville, NC.
Tell Me About Your First Date Together
Our first date wasn’t exactly like your “normal” first dates. I was very excited but very nervous. I met him and we drove his truck to the restaurant. As we sit in the parking lot he informs me that we will be eating with most of his family. I was a nervous wreck at this point but as we sat and talked I found myself feeling extremely comfortable and accepted by his family. And a love story was born hahah.
How Did You Fall In Love?
Over pretzels at the mall hahah. We decided to hang out with a couple of our friends and I just so happened to be a little too drunk at the time. As we are going through the mall I saw the pretzel stand and NEEDED one but I didn’t have my wallet with me so I just kind of looked at it and Nick walks up to me and says “what kind do you want, I’m getting it” and as cheesy as it sounds we just knew.
When/Where Did He/She Propose?
We were on a family beach vacation at Ocean Isle. I wanted to get up really early to watch the sunrise on the beach so we took out some blankets and snacks. We started walking down the beach and he told me to turn around. When I turned back to him he had wrote in the sand “will you marry me?” With a big heart around it as he was on one knee. 🖤
What Are You Most Excited About For Your Wedding?
For Nick and I family is the most important and we haven’t always had the easiest of times with what family we have so to get everyone together on both sides for one amazing night will mean everything to us.
