How did y’all meet?

Jonathan and I met at Emory & Henry College. We were both completing biology degrees and fate had us sit next to each other as lab partners.

When and where did you go on your first date?

May 25th 2016 – MACADOS

Tell me about your first date together?

By the time we really started to get closer Jonathan had already graduated from Emory. We met up a few weeks after he graduated and ate dinner at Macados, celebrated with a famous Madison Mud Pie, and then walked through Hungry Mother State Park. The next day, we met some friends at the farmers market for live music and he officially asked me to be his girlfriend!

How did you fall in love?

Jonathan and I, along with my college roommate Stephanie, were all best friends. We all bonded over shared misery of completing a science degree for pretty much the whole time we were at Emory together. We truly didn’t start getting closer until he graduated, making the majority of our relationship more “long-distance” with me being away at school. Jonathan and I’s relationship has always been easy and full of love, because we really were best friends first!

When/where did he/she propose?

Jonathan (finally) popped the question in November of 2019. We were visiting the campus of Emory & Henry to (also, finally) get some couple pictures taken – he knew one of my requirements of a good proposal was pictures! Little did I know, he had met up with the photograph a few weeks before a planned the whole thing out. He even planned to have one of our mutual friends come and video the whole thing! We celebrated with Olive Garden and spent the whole night calling all our friends and family (which he had also already told – I was truly the only one in the dark!)

What are you most excited about for your wedding?

We are so excited to share our love with all our friends and family! Our family jokes with us that we’ve been engaged forever (it has been 2+ years), so we are looking forward to our dream day. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has impacted our planning forcing us to make the tough decision to postpone. However, we know this will let us truly have the day we’ve dreamed for with all the friends and family who hope to share it with us!

A FUN AND PLAYFUL FRIENDSHIP

Where would y’all go for your dream honeymoon?

We hope to go on a cruise EVENTUALLY!

What is your most favorite thing about each other?

My favorite thing about Jonathan is how hard he loves! The high degree of COMMITMENT he has for his friends and family is amazing, and its inspiring to see him be so passionate!

My favorite thing about Dawnna is her tenacity. she faces challenges head on.

How have you grown as a couple since you first started dating?

We have grown from young college kids into (somewhat) functioning adults together. We are excited to move in together soon to start our next adventure!

Favorite quirk about each other

Jonathan always closes the cabinets/drawers that I leave open (which is almost all of them, all the time).

Dawnna loves to watch cooking shows but hates trying anything beyond chicken nuggets.

How do you feel most loved by your partner?

I love when Jonathan lets me sit on his lap (even after I beg and annoy him) – I feel so safe and loved!

I feel loved when Dawnna wants to sit on my lap, it is nice that she wants my attention.

First impression of each other?

WHO LIKES THEIR GROUP PARTNERS AT FIRST? LOL – WE WERE LUCKY TO BE IN THE SAME FRIEND GROUP SO WE’VE ALWAYS BEEN BEST FRIENDS!
