As a wedding photographer, I get inquiries nearly every single day from couples planning their perfect wedding day, or even just their Roan Mountain Adventure Engagement Session, but before I can ever considering working with a couple, I need to get to know them a little better. How do I do this? Well easy… I talk to them face to face via Zoom and I send them questionnaires for them to answer. It is only then that I can really gage if a couple is a good fit to join in their wedding journey.

Some couples do not take this process very seriously. Maybe they don’t see the importance in it, or maybe they just don’t have time. No matter the reason, I ALWAYS want to work with couples that make photography a priority for their wedding day.

I Knew We Would Be A Good Fit!

In the case of Heather and David, I knew right away we would be a great fit to work together. At the very first, they were honest and open with me. They were funny, could laugh at themselves, and had both come through a lot of difficulties in their lives to find each other.

Our Roan Mountain Adventure Engagement Session was so much fun! David grew up locally and had tons of great stories about his time in the surrounding mountains, and Heather shared some of her amazing experiences as an elementary school teacher.

How did y’all meet?

David is an appliance repairman who owns a business about 400 feet from where I teach second grade. We had never crossed paths until he came to my house to fix my ice maker. Let’s just say, I never had to pay for that repair.

When and where did you go on your first date?

About a week after we met we went to Logan’s Steakhouse.

Tell me about your first date together?

We hit it off immediately. We both have similar stories of love and betrayal. He is funny and tells great stories. I love to listen to them.

How did you fall in love?

He said “I love you” first. It took me a little longer to be convinced he was genuine. I think I knew I was in love when he handled Christmas in Ohio with my three daughters and crazy family smoothly and calmly.

When/where did he/she propose?

David proposed on my 40th birthday. We hiked to the top of Table Rock in North Carolina.

What are you most excited about for your wedding?

I am excited to seal the deal and make him mine. I want to be Mrs. Wiseman.

Describe your relationship in 5 words

Where would y’all go for your dream honeymoon?

Ireland or Hawaii

What is your most favorite thing about each other?

My favorite thing about him is that he treats me like a lady. He takes care of me and always makes me laugh.

He says that his favorite thing about me is that I am happy and always smiling at him.

How have you grown as a couple since you first started dating?

I am not sure. The best thing is that we fight for each other. We have each others back.

Favorite quirk about each other

My favorite quirk about him is that he makes up his own words.

He says his favorite quirk about me is that i have yankee-isms since I grew up in Ohio. I say things differently and I’m more proper.

How do you feel most loved by your partner?

I feel most loved when he just wants spend time with me.

First impression of each other?

I was impressed with his attention to detail and his thoughtfulness.

He says he thought i was beautiful and smart.
