Sarah & Morgan Roan Mountain Engagement Session
Sarah & Morgan Roan Mountain Engagement Session
Over the years I have been blessed to photograph dozens of couples on the high balds Roan Mountain. When I am able to join any couple outdoors to photograph their love for one another, it is a pleasure! But sometimes, those trips up the mountain can be a little more difficult. Maybe it’s the weather, maybe my old man’s knee is hurting, or maybe there’s just a ton of people up there. For this trip though, I can’t say the same.
Sarah and Morgan’s Roan Mountain Engagement Session was literally just a perfect day. The clouds were extra dramatic, the temperature was just right and we virtually had the mountain to ourselves. What more could I ask?
Morgan and Sarah are a super cool couple! Originally from Oregon, Morgan is a musician and Sarah works in film production. They made the trip all the way from Nashville, TN just spent a few minutes with me on the mountain. Of course, they made a full weekend of it and rented an Airbnb, but I’ll pretend that they came just for me. LOL

Future wedding date and venue

How did y’all meet?
The usual boy meets girl story. We had friends in the same circles and connected instantly. First as friends, and that then grew into something more.
When and where did you go on your first date?
Our first date was a diner in Nashville. Very low-key, very unassuming. Very us.
Tell me about your first date together?
We split dollar burgers and draft beers while watching a hockey game on a TV that had to have been made in the 90s. We just talked. Got to know each other on a more personal level. We never shied away from the tough stuff. We learned about the best and worst in each other. It’s always been that way. Before anything, we’re best friends.
How did you fall in love?
Not to be cheesy and steal a movie line, but we fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once. We both think that our souls recognized their counterpoints in each other. The day we met, we knew we would be in each other’s lives forever. I don’t think either of us anticipated that to be a romantic relationship, but that grew from our love and respect for one another.
When/where did he/she propose?
Morgan proposed outside of the home we bought together. In the place we will grow our love and families… together.
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
The cake! Joking, joking 😉 Having a moment in time to celebrate our love amongst family and friends. We’ve overcome a lot together. It’s exciting to have a day just to celebrate finding each other.
Describe your relationship in 5 words
Immaculate hurricane of anticipated fate
Where would y’all go for your dream honeymoon?
Ireland
What is your most favorite thing about each other?
Morgan: the way that she loves me
Sarah: the innate goodness he possesses.
How have you grown as a couple since you first started dating?
We say, more than anything, our respect and patience for each other and our individual beliefs.
Favorite quirk about each other
Morgan: her attention to detail & listmaking.
Sarah: his “west coast-isms” as I call them. How he pronounces certain words and phrases like vice versa. Kills me every time.
How do you feel most loved by your partner?
Morgan: How she anticipates everything I never knew I needed.
Sarah: that he’s always there. He’s my rock. Bad day at work? He’s there. Hormones acting irrationally? He’s there. Even when we’re on each other’s last nerve, we’re there. Always.
First impression of each other?
Morgan: loved her attitude
Sarah: “Honestly? Oh, man, another Nashville musician. Sorry, babe!”
